Season 2023-2024
El Barrio Raíces Summer Program 2023
El Barrio Raíces Summer Program is a three-week summer program that offers theatre training to children between the ages of 9 and 12. The program is free of charge and open to all residents of NYC. This year’s program will focus on community empowerment and strengthening family traditions, encouraging students to explore their heritage through the performing arts. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about all disciplines of theatre, including acting, dance, make-up, ensemble work, costumes, and sets. Our bilingual team of teaching artists will facilitate all classes.
Las Borinqueñas
by Nelson Diaz Marcano
It’s the 1950’s in Puerto Rico and Maria, Fernanda, Yolanda, Rosa, and Chavela are fighting to live full lives in a changing country with crushing societal rules for women. In the United States, Dr. Gregory Pincus is on the verge of perfecting a miracle that could give them freedom – if only he could find test subjects to participate in preliminary trials. This is the story of the birth control pill and the women who risked everything for the chance to live free.
This play is produced by Ensemble Studio Theatre/The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, in collaboration with Latinx Playwrights Circle, and Boundless Theatre Company.
Boundless de Oro
Boundless continues the collaboration with the Fundación Yolanda Laprea in bringing free acting, dance and singing classes to the older adult community. Just like the past two years, this year we will be creating a short film written and directed by Marcelo Rodriguez, where everyone involved, from the artistic team to the behind the camera crew, will be older adults from the City of New York. This program is filmed in Sunnyside, Queens and it’s streamed via YouTube and our social media channels.

Imperfecta invisible
“Imperfecta invisible” dreams of being a Rockstar and a famous actress. But how can someone invisible achieve these dreams? One day, she walks into a space where she can be seen. Is it a stage? Is it her subconscious? There are pieces of her life, her dreams and nightmares displayed everywhere, but there is also a rock band and an audience. Imperfecta invisible is the story of a woman that for years believed what was told about herself: you can’t do this, you’re too fat, you are unpretty. In a world made of fashion magazines, photoshop and influencers, she does not fit. Or does she?
Imperfecta invisible takes us on a funny albeit sometimes painful journey through love, college, auditions, diets, antidepressants and hair.
