Samantha Tutasi

Samantha Tutasi (she/her) is a Ecuadorian-American scenic designer from Beacon, NY, and a recent graduate from SUNY Purchase with a BFA in Theater Design Technology. Her most recent work will premiere with Powerhouse Theatre Collaborative in New Hampshire, with their productions of Secret Garden (Spring 2023) and Captain Courageous (Fall 2023). As a child of immigrants who worked in housekeeping, she was introduced to theater and the arts through the people her family worked for, including the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival where she had her first professional internship in 2019. As an artist she aspires to develop environments that fully capture the essence of the story in a unique format, and for people of all walks of life to be able to experience these environments in ways that are individual to each person’s mind and how it takes in visual information and emotionally bonds with the spaces around them. Samantha also strives to create more diverse and safe work environments for BIPOC creators, specifically participating with groups such as Design Action and ATW’s Springboard To Design program.  She is ecstatic to be a part of Boundless Exposed 2023, and to learn and grow through this process with her fellow emerging BIPOC designers!
