OMAR NIEVES, dancer, choreographer, actor, and singer. Despite his leading training being dance, he has been involved in most areas of performing arts. He participates in a variety of summer camps and festivals, from Cuba to Spain, from Haiti to Italy. He has worked with the foremost dance companies of Puerto Rico, such as Ballets de San Juan, CODA 21, and Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico. His repertoire goes from big classics like “Gisselle” and “Don Quixote” to pieces from Septime Webre, Ivan Perez, or Nacho Duato.
In 2017, he had to leave Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria made landfall. He began to build a new stage of his career. As an artist now based in New York, Omar has collaborated with companies such as The Guthrie Theater (Associate Choreographer in “West Side Story,” Repertorio Español´s LGBTQ comedy “Smiley,” “La Celestina,” Theatre C “Voulez-Vous immersive experience” or Boundless Theatre “Mud”). He was part of the cast of “West Side Story” in Japan during 2019, and his most recent contract was as an ensemble member in the National Tour of the musical “Anastasia,” before being laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
When it comes to theater, one of his greatest works is as a choreographer, dancer and actor at the immersive theater play “Construyendo a Verónica”. He has also been part of in operettas such as “La roda del azafrán” and musicals such as “GODSPELL”, “La cage aux Folles” and “Con la mano en el pecho”.
He has also succeeded as a choreographer, evidenced by productions such as “El último árbol”, “Tierra a la vista”, “Puerto Rico está encantado” and “Romeo+Julieta”. .

Omar Nieves – Actor, bailarín y coreógrafo puertorriqueño afincado en Nueva York. En los últimos meses, forma parte del electo del tour 2019 a Japón de “West Side Story” y del Tour Nacional USA del musical “Anastasia”. Además, ha sido parte del elenco de musicales y obras como “La Jaula de las Locas”, “Godspell”, “Ingenio (Wit)”, “Contratiempo” o “Smiley”. Ha trabajado con las principales compañías de danza de Puerto Rico. También viaja como bailarín invitado a Estados Unidos, el Caribe y Europa. Su repertorio abarca desde los grandes clásicos hasta las producciones de coreógrafos internacionales. Fue el coreógrafo asociado de Maija Garcia en West Side Story para el Guthrie Theatre (Minneapolis) y formo parte del elenco del musical off-Broadway Shadows. Ha coreografiado, entre otros: “Construyendo a Verónica”, “Man of la Mancha”, “In the Heights “, “Once on this Island”, “Thoroughly Modern Millie” y “Pegados”.
